Introducing the new Pesticide Application and Pest Control qualification suite
In an industry where safety, competence and legal compliance underpin every job, staying up to date isn’t just an advantage – it’s essential. At NPTC by City & Guilds, we’re proud to launch our updated suite of Pesticide Application and Pest Control qualifications.
As the UK’s leading Land-based services awarding organisation, we’re the only body to offer a full suite of qualifications across every recognised application and control method. That means you can be confident your skills and certifications meet the highest current standards, including the UK Pesticides National Action Plan (NAP) 2025 and the latest CRRU stewardship requirements.
Why this update matters
The regulatory landscape for Plant Protection Products (PPPs) and vertebrate pest control continues to evolve. Holding an approved qualification remains a legal requirement under the Plant Protection Products (Sustainable Use) Regulations 2012.
Our refreshed suite was developed in close consultation with industry experts to ensure that learners don't just pass an assessment – they gain the practical knowledge and confidence to work safely in real-world environments.
We are particularly pleased that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has reviewed our updated pesticide suite, recognising the rigorous standards we have implemented for those seeking their Certificate of Competence (CoC).
What’s inside the new suite?
The updated portfolio is designed to be comprehensive and accessible, covering:
- Pesticide Application (PA): From hand-held pedestrian equipment to specialised machinery, aerial delivery, and variable geometry boom sprayers.
- Pest Control: Specialised awards for the safe use of rodenticides, aluminium phosphide, and vertebrate pest traps.
- Responsible Management: A Level 3 Award specifically designed for those overseeing pesticide management.
- Refresher Products: To support compliance with PUWER, which recommends updates every 2-5 years. We offer modules to keep your workforce at the forefront with the latest legislation and technology.
